Medical aesthetics from the point of view at 18.
Medical aesthetics, a delicate subject in certain parts of the world. Yet, with the rise of the Kardashians and the easy access to social media, this topic has been more openly discussed amongst people.
Clearly, it is very appreciated by us, teens. In my opinion, using medical aesthetics such as Botox, fillers etc., is a way to really just improve your skin and make yourself and only you, feel better. If you want to make your lips bigger, go ahead! Want to makes those wrinkles disappear? Medical aesthetics exists for that main reason. The choice is yours to make after all.
I think that medical aesthetics is a fantastic technology. But just how everything has its pros, medical aesthetics has its cons. The media has projected so many celebrities with different procedures and us teens absorb all that information. It began to destroy many girls’ self-esteem, affecting their insecurities since not everyone has the money for it nor the interest. It felt like some sort of pressure for us girls to get it too, since it seems like the trend nowadays.
Nevertheless, medical aesthetics has come a long way. Going from a taboo topic to an almost universal topic is a huge accomplishment. Working at First Impressions educated me so much on the different procedures. Our clients were always informed and content with their treatments as well. Seeing them happy, made me simply happy.
In the end, the decision comes back to the individual. One piece of advice I have though is : own it! The more we do, the more the world will see its benefits. After all, it’s used to make you feel refreshed and improve your self love and who doesn’t want that?
